Happy Thanksgiving!

thanksgiving 2Kaya and Felicity hung out in our hotel room in DC on Thanksgiving and ate some delicious food Kaya had gathered. It was nice to see my husband’s family, and also just to get to sit around and read a WHOLE lot for several days! Including finishing up the appropriateĀ Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick.

(For the sake of harmony, of course, let’s ignore that Kaya is not an East Coast Native American, that Felicity lived long after the original settlers, that Thanksgiving didn’t become a holiday until 1863, and that the first 70 years of Pilgrim-Puritan-Native American relations are a hot bed of racial and political “missteps”, to say the least…)
